Sheet count is only the area calculation; board type, fastening schedule, finish level, corners, and access determine the rest of the order.
Confirm the board and assembly
Identify board thickness, dimensions, edge type, and performance requirements for each wall and ceiling. Fire-resistance, moisture exposure, tile backing, garage separation, and ceiling framing can require different products.
Use approved assembly and manufacturer requirements for layers, orientation, joints, fasteners, and treatment.
Count finishing components
Estimate joint tape, setting or drying compound, inside and outside corner treatment, control joints, and accessories. Finish level and surface lighting affect labor and material use. High-gloss finishes and critical lighting demand more careful preparation.
Plan handling and waste
Choose sheet lengths that reduce joints while fitting through the building safely. Protect sheets from moisture and edge damage. Account for cutouts, complex ceilings, and small rooms without assuming every offcut can be reused.
